Hacks for decluttering/organising your desk

We are all bad at organising, but we still have to do it in order to live a peaceful and clean life. So here are my hacks for organising your desk.

Step 1: Get rid of any foods or drinks

This is an extremely important task, because dirty plates and cups are not only unpleasing for the eye, but smell too. This step is the most effective, since, once you rid your space of dishes, it will start looking more clean, even though you still have some clutter occupying your desk.

Step 2: Remove all the things that you don’t need any more

We all tend to leave things like receipts and used sticky notes on our desks, because we are too lazy to throw them out after we use them, ending up with a couple of them just casually laying around on our workspace. Ridding it from the unnecessary clutter, your desk will start to look normal again.

Step 3: Organise the clutter in piles

Once you’re done with the first two steps, you are left with the things that you once used, but didn’t put back (eg. pens, notebooks). By organising them into categories, it will be much simpler to find them a place. This stage is optional, but will make your job easier for the next few steps.

Step 4: Find a place for everything

When organising, you want to find a place for everything. For pens you can find a jar, for notebooks a special drawer, for your laptop a special corner, etc. This is the step in which your desk finally becomes aesthetically pleasing.

Step 5: Decorate

This step is optional, but will bring your workplace to the next level, making your desk look more welcoming and cozy and prompting you to feel more comfortable while working. You can add a plant, a picture with your loved ones, a clock, etc.

Hope to have helped you with your organising, and don’t forget: organising is never easy:)
